Sigma releases 50-200mm f4-5.6 DC OS HSM lens

PMA 2009: Sigma has released an image-stabilized version of its budget telezoom lens, the 50-200mm F4-5.6 DC OS HSM. This  features the same new optical stabilization unit as seen on the 18-50mm F2.8-4.5 EX DC HSM also announced today, which is compatible with Pentax and Sony bodies with in-body anti-shake systems. The new lens also includes a number of user-friendly features rarely seen at this level, including a  hypersonic motor for fast, silent autofocus, and an internal-focusing design with a non-rotating front  element. It will be available in mounts for Sigma, Canon, Nikon, Sony and Pentax DSLRs, and is designed for cameras with APS-C/DX sized sensors only.

Leica launches Super-Elmar-M 18 mm lens

Pre-PMA 2009: Leica has launched the Super-Elmar-M 18 mm f/ 3.8 ASPH compact wide angle lens. With an equivalent focal length of 24mm this lens can be used on both the digital M series as well as analog cameras. It is constructed with eight elements in seven groups, including one aspherical element. In addition, Leica has also extended its rangefinder system accessories with the new Bright Line Finder M 18mm which can be used with the new lens for effective framing.

HP expands recycle program to include buy-back for cash or trade-in

HP has expanded it’s Planet Partners Recycling program and added a buyback element to it. The new program dubbed the HP Consumer Buyback and Planet Partners Recycling Program, will buy back any brand of PC, monitor, printer, digital camera, or which still has some sort of value, rather than simply recycle the e-waste it receives.
