While that new digital camera you have purchased is a wise choice in this modern day and age, consider that all that technology and all those camera features are useless unless you know how to properly use the digital camera. This article gives you 3 top tips which you should use as a beginner at the start of your journey of digital photography.

Tip 1: Read the manual
This may sound obvious, however is an absolute must if you are serious about digital photography and taking good quality pictures. Digital cameras come packed with many features and you need to know about these features and how to utilise them. Digital cameras also come with a staggering variety of tools and settings to help amateur and professional photographers alike take superb photographs. Of course these tools and settings are only useful if you know how to use them, which again is reason enough to read the instruction manual. Although you could easily manage to figure out the majority of features and use the basic functions of your digital camera, you could not hope to understand the full potential of the camera you have just purchased. Trust in the knowledge that it is worthwhile reading that thick book!

Tip 2: Always keep the battery charged
Another critical point relates to the battery. Ensure your battery is always fully charged before you use it and preferably if you can afford to have a spare battery on you. There is nothing worse if you are exploring with your new digital camera and the battery goes flat. Closing down some features and using less certain features will also help conserve the battery. Shutting off the LCD for instance and not using the video mode unless necessary all helps.

Tip 3: Get out and play with your new toy
Some may find it surprising that this is quite an important step in the introduction to digital photography and upgrading to any new digital camera. As mentioned your digital camera has a whole host of features which you need to play with to realise what works in certain circumstances. Only when you have played with all the features will you better equipped to take the best pictures in all conditions you find yourself in.

Obviously there are other tasks you can undertake in order to enhance your digital photography experience. Other tasks you may consider include learning about lighting and exposures and one of the other considerations is continuous learning about digital photography, continue to explore online this will only help you.

Hopefully this article has helped you a little, follow the tips and simply enjoy.
