Samsung unveils new NX series camera system

PMA 2009: Samsung has today officially unveiled its new 'hybrid digital camera' system, in the shape of the NX series. Similar in concept to Micro Four Thirds but using a larger APS-C sensor, this new system is designed to combine the performance and quality of an SLR with the convenience and portability of a point and shoot. By replacing the mirror box and optical viewfinder of an SLR with an electronic viewfinder, the NX series is designed to allow smaller and lighter bodies and lenses. The first model of the NX series will be available in the second half of 2009.

Samsung launches CL5 camera with MP3 player

Pre-PMA 2009: Samsung has released the CL5 compact camera (PL10 in Europe) with a built-in MP3 player.  With the camera’s multimedia player, one can listen or create slideshows with music files and watch videos on the LCD screen. The 9MP camera incorporates a 2.7” LCD, 3x Optical zoom (38-114mm equiv) and offers features such as Smart Auto, Face Detection with Recognition and Frame guide.

Samsung announces SL30 budget compact camera

Pre-PMA 2009: Samsung has announced the SL30 (ES15 in Europe) budget compact camera. The camera is designed with a 10 megapixel sensor, 3x optical zoom and includes Face Detection and a Beauty mode that retouches faces for a smoother skin tone. Priced at £79, the camera will be available from April 2009 in candy pink, silver, white and dark gray.

Samsung Memoir: 8MP Phone Camera with Touchscreen

My phone can beat up your camera. That’s what Samsung and T-Mobile would have you believe. Samsung and T-Mobile announced the release of the Samsung Memoir, combining an 8 megapixel camera with a touch screen cell phone. The new Memoir appears to be much like the infamous mullet: business up front, party in the back. That is, the front of the phone looks very much the part of a serious smart phone. It has a full touch screen display, built in media player, and of course GPS and Bluetooth.
